Managing Director (and founder) - Simon Minett

Simon has more than 30 years experience in the energy sector. He started at ETSU, setting up their energy consulting business before relocating to Belgium to run the European CHP Association, COGEN Europe for 8.5 years as its Managing Director. In 2004, Simon founded Delta Energy and Environment with two colleagues, a business which has grown into a strong research and consulting practice in the UK. In 2009, having left Delta, Simon established Challoch Energy with the goal to be a centre of international expertise in clean energy policy, economics and deployment.

Simon is one of Europe’s foremost experts on Renewables, CHP and energy efficiency policy and deployment. He has a deep knowledge and consulting experience on assessing the economic and environmental performance of CHP and renewable energy plants of all scales, fuels and technologies against national methodologies.

Director (and founder) - Anna Limbrey

Anna is a co-founder of Challoch Energy. She holds a Masters degree (MSc) in Environmental Resources awarded by Salford University, UK. Following a career in sales and marketing in the UK, Anna relocated to Belgium where she worked as Marketing and Membership Manager for COGEN Europe for 8 years. From 2007, she then worked with ERTICO – ITS Europe as Partnership Development Manager until June 2018. She is now fully focusing her time on further developing Challoch Energy’s portfolio of activities.

Anna has an extensive experience of liaising with CEOs and board level executives, being able to liaise closely with clients to ensure needs are met on both sides. She also has a thorough understanding of sustainable transport issues relating to intelligent transport systems and services.

Consultant - Estela dos Santos-Lewis

Estela joined our office in January 2018. She holds a Bachelor of International Trade from Orléans University (France). Before joining Challoch Energy's team, Estela worked for 8 years within a purchasing office in Brussels for Building and Engineering Equipment to be exported to Nigeria. Estela also has experience in the traceability and transport markets, and previously worked in import-export with China and Central America for a diverse range of products.

Consultant - Shahane Bakhshyan

Shahane joined the staff in August 2018 after a successful internship at Challoch within the framework of her Master’s program. She has graduated from UCL (Université Catholique de Louvain, Belgium) in 2018 with Master’s degree in environmental management. She also holds Master’s degree in International trade from UPEC (Université Paris-Est Créteil, France). Shahane has 10-year working experience in Veolia Water company in Armenia with focus on reporting, customer care and team management.

Consultant - Gabriel Benchetrit

A recent addition to the team, Gabriel arrived in August for a 3-month internship with Challoch Energy and has now been taken on as a member of staff. Having just graduated from McGill University (Montreal, Canada) in May, he holds a degree in chemical engineering with a focus in sustainable technologies and a minor in finance. Although sustainability has always been a core interest, it is through his degree that Gabriel discovered his passion for the energy sector, and in particular, for alternative fuels and hydrogen power generation. Gabriel previously worked in research and venture capital investing within the sustainability sector. Eager to work for his passions, he is excited to keep developing his skills and knowledge of the renewable energy industry here at Challoch.

Consultant - Freya Minett

Following her internship with us, Freya has now been taken on as a member of staff. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Professional Musicianship from the British and Irish Modern Music Institute in 2020. She has always been interested in renewable energy, environmental issues and reducing our impact on the climate. Her most recent job was working for an environmental retail shop, and prides herself for having the privilege of working for environmentally conscious companies.

Intern - Léna Le Friant

Léna is currently studying a master degree in engineering at IMT Atlantique in Nantes, France. More precisely, Ishe is studying environmental and energy transition : energy generation technologies, electricity and heat networks, management of energy resources etc… She has chosen this speciality because she is interested in the environmental cause and thanks to her studies, wants to understand and act for the energy transition which seems necessary in the context of climate change. Thus, she is happy to develop her knowledge and to take part in innovative projects here at Challoch Energy.

External Consultant - Mike Parr

Mike has been collaborating with Challoch on various energy-related projects since 2013. He holds a degree in Power & Electrical engineering and an MBA. Trained by a UK DNO as an operations engineer, he also has experience in the area of energy saving, specifically in the industrial sector and including SCADA design.

Mike has taken part in various Horizon 2020 projects, including those covering battery storage. He has also been the lead in tendering for utility-scale storage projects as well as those covering stand-alone renewable projects on islands. A current focus of activity is the funding of the energy transition that Europe needs to undertake.
